The contract between the giant U.S. aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, the airline Lion Air of Indonesia was incensed Airbus. European plane maker has accused the U.S. government has intervened in the project so that Boeing benefited from buying and selling aircraft.

Assessment was expressed by the Chief Executive of Operations Airbus, John Leahy. He was commenting on an agreement to buy 230 units of Boeing 737 aircraft by Lion Air in Bali last November. The signing was attended by U.S. President, Barack Obama.

According to Leahy, the lobbies with the use of U.S. President Obama has shown it to impose a double standard on free market competition. "There is only one superpower in the world and we know for sure is not French, but most likely represented by President Obama," said Leahy in Washington DC, as quoted by Reuters news agency, December 1, 2011.

"When he started making headlines that he sold many of the aircraft and how it would not be possible without his personal involvement, this shows that we have seen economic distortions, and we should not talk about free and open trade in the world when the U.S. being so, "said Leahy, Airbus executive who is a U.S. origin.

Leahy statement indicating fierce competition between Airbus and Boeing in seizing the largest share in the commercial aircraft market. There has been no reaction from the U.S. government and Boeing officials on the executive of Airbus's comments.

Project between Boeing and Lion Air that cost about U.S. $ 21.7 billion. This is the largest commercial transaction in the history of Boeing. Payment mechanisms for the project will be assisted by the U.S. Export-Import Bank.

For Obama, the project will involve 110,000 industrial workers. This is a strategic issue for Obama, which is likely to run again for president in 2012 elections, considering unemployment is a challenge for the U.S. to recover from the economic crisis.

The deal came a few months after the project had a successful Airbus aircraft of the airline reservations from the U.S., American Airlines, a total of 260 units.

Before the deal between Boeing and Lion Air, news emerged that Airbus are interested in doing business with the airline from Indonesia that. Leahy even confident that Airbus can get back to winning when there is no political intervention from Washington.

"The CEO and owner of the airline, who had only bought Boeing aircraft, in fact never come to me in Toulouse twice to talk about the purchase of aircraft and finally he said there was no choice," said Leahy, who also doubles as the Chief Executive of Commercial Airbus.

"I'm not sure what is meant by" no choice, 'but there seems to be a powerful political interference and I think the White House are very proud of it and said the project [Boeing] will not happen without the intervention of the White House. Well, maybe that's true, but it's not good for freedom of competition and free trade, "said Leahy.

Meanwhile, the Lion Air has denied the news that an agreement with Boeing based on the pressure. "I am not prepared to comment on the issue, but I can say is that we make a purchase based purely on commercial considerations and we are free to do so," said Lion Air spokesman, Edward Sirait told Reuters.
