Dr. Richard Wiseman conducted a research involving 1000 men who had
been surveyed before. They were separated into two groups: one group was
of those who felt they were lucky people and the other group was those
who felt they were very unlucky people.
All of them there asked to buy lotteries, of the 700 participants
that bought lotteries, 36 were winners: 18 were from the group of the
luckies and 18 others from the group of the unluckies. Of the 36
winners, only two succeeded in guessing 4 numbers precisely. One was of
the luckies and another was of the unluckies.
Everyone from both the luckies and the unluckies bought 3 tickets and
there was one number correct in one ticket and each participant lose
2,5 poundsterling.
This experiment involved hundreds of people and the lotteries were
drawn at random by The National Lottery in London and the winning
numbers were unpredictable. So, although some people felt lucky and
others felt unlucky, if both parties did the same thing, the results
would not be different. Thus, no one is to be successful just by luck alone.
The same goes for the myth of number 13 thought to be an unlucky
number. You may examine what number 13 has to do with the US dollar. In
the backside of the US 1 dollar piece you will find a picture of a
pyramide that has 13 terraces. Above it is a slogan “annuity coeptis”
which consists of 13 letters. Further, on the ribbon held by the eagle
is written “E Pluribus Unum” – consisting of 13 letters too. And above
the eagle’s head there shine 13 stars. Look closely at the shield on
that dollar piece – there are 13 lines drawn. The left claw of the eagle
is gripping 13 arrows while the right claw is gripping a twig that has
13 zaitun leaves. They all depict the fact that USA was formerly founded
from 13 states.
If 13 is really an unlucky number, it is very unlikely the US dollar
has for long been a supreme currency in the world monetary system. It
goes for you too. None of us is born bringing more luck than others. On
the contrary none is doomed to have permanent unfortunate fate.
All that have been achieved by successful people come from hard efforts and works in realizing their dreams, strengthened further by their faith
and confidence that they will succeed. But that faith will not apply to
something negative or against your conscience, like for example:
betting, buying lotteries and gambling.
To me Luck only stands for “Only By Work and Faith”, and only through
that you will be successful and not by luck or good fortune.
Do you agree?
GOLDEN POINT :
• Misfortunes come from a narrow-minded person, but a far-sighted mind will turn all misfortunes into fortunes (Washington Irving).
• Everyone is an architect of their own fortune (Applus Claudius).
